Exploration Of Real Estate In The Majestic City Of Himalayan Dehradun

Posted by Admin on June, 09, 2021

Dehradun, the winter capital of the state of Uttarkhand derives its name from two words – “Dehra” meaning camp and “Dun” in Garhwali language meaning valley that lies between the middle Himalayas and the Shivaliks. The town sprang into existence when Baba Ram Rai, the son of the seventh Sikh Guru settled his camp here in the area in the year in 1675.
It was during this time that the modern city of Dehradun started developing, at the time of which the word “Dehra” was linked to “Dun”. This is how the city got its name – Dehradun.
The Skanda Purana mentions Dun as part of the region of Kedarkhand, the dwelling of Lord Shiva. The city is steeped deep into Hindu mythology. The epic Mahabharata is linked to it and hence it is regarded as Devbhoomi.

Location
The most populated city of the state of Uttarkhand, it is the administrative headquarters of the district and governed by the Dehradun Municipal Corporation. Being part of the Garhwal region, it lies on National Highway 7, just 248 km north from the country capital Delhi.
Dehradun is nestled safely in the Doon Valley on the foothills of the majestic and grand Himalayas. The Song River a tributary of the Ganges on the east and the Yamuna on the west flows through the Doon Valley.

Climate
The city has humid subtropical climate. But the climate varies greatly in accordance with its elevation from tropical to severely cold. Summers in the Doon Valley can be sometimes intensely hot with a hot wind called “Loo” blowing over it whereas in some hilly regions it is pleasant. The winter temperatures can be freezing cold with temperatures dropping below freezing point and intense fogs as well.

Connectivity
It is well connected by means of rail and road. All train to and from Dehradun leave via Dehradun Railway Station and is also well connected by air through the Jolly Grant Airport.
As Dehra is the Indian Government’s “Counter Magnet” to the National Capital Region it is well connected by roadways too. A number of buses, both privately and state owned traverse the length and breadth of the city and also to other parts of the country as well.

Tourist Destination
A well known tourist destination it is particularly famous for its picturesque landscapes and mild climate which makes it a favourite getaway for the hill lovers. It has quite a number of tourist destinations – Mussoorie, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedranath and Badrinath being the most popular sites.
It is also famous for its camps, both summer and winter trekking trails and water rafting. The Har Ki Dun camping site provides lofty and grandiose views of the Himalayan panorama. This is one major reason why Top Builders and Developers in Dehradun are making headway into the real estate business in the city.

Healthcare and Education
